Many people daydream about traveling the world, but all of them have the same excuse – lack of money. Tomislav, after traveling the world for years with almost no money, shows how it is possible for everyone to do the same, if they really want to.

Tomislav Perko, 29, is a travel writer from Croatia. After a career of a stockbroker, broke because of the financial crisis, he hits the road and turns it into his home. He uses alternative ways of traveling – hitchhiking, couchsurfing, working/volunteering, and manages to wander around the world with just a little bit of money in his pocket, meeting the most amazing people on the way.

Five years later, he publishes a book “1000 Days of Spring” and goes around giving lectures about what it means to live on the road. Find out more on his website: http://tomislavperko.com/en/.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Once time, I talked to my friend that I want to go backpacking to West Asia after graduating from school in 2 years but he said "it is dangerous, you are a girl and when you travel alone you maybe killed or raped". I am really scared and I wish I was a man that I can go anywhere i want 😢😢

Girls! Do travel if YOU want to. Yes take a friend, yes be smart about it and yes perhaps bring some (a lot of) pepperspay. But DO go out there. Explore the world. Get new experiences. Don't let them stop you just because you're a girl.

Three words and one name – rich countries only – Ivan Milat

There's something not right about begging your way around the world when you're in empoverished regions.

Lol Phan says:

so how do i do it with a pet? it's not possible right? if not, i'm killing everything i love for myself. i'm done being delayed. first i was too young, then my sister gives me a dog in highschool that i can't get rid of because it's my best and only friend. I AM NOT GETTING A WORTHLESS JOB JUST SO I CAN PAY FOR A DEFORMED DOG TO GO ON TRIPS WITH ME IN A FUTURE WHERE MY DOG MIGHT JUST BE DEAD ANYWAYS DUE TO TIME.
