Good tips been all over South America Peru is cheaper than Ecuador which is tied to US dollar. I bargain con RESPECTO for lodging cut out all middlemen pay dollars $5 usually buys the best private room in the hosteria/hotel. Cheapest eats are street market foods and quite healthy. I love Loja even cheaper than Cuenca. Perfect climate. Closer to nature. Cuenca very pretty BUT totally invaded by tourists and retirees in the last few years.

$12 a night is a great price when you're bouncing around like you do… X that by 30 days = $360 per month. You would be blown away by what you can rent in Cuenca for $360 per month if you were hanging around for 6 months to a year! thanks for the video!
